Handling and Health Checking
The first goal of handling exercises is to teach the puppy to enjoy all types of handling from family members and friends. The second goal to teach the pet to tolerate more intensive, firm, or unfamiliar forms of handling that might be necessary for restraint, grooming (including nail trimming, ear cleaning and combing), teeth brushing, veterinary care, or that might arise in greeting or play with new people or children. The goal is to ‘proof’ the puppy to prevent it from getting upset if it is handled roughly or caught by surprise.
If you check your dog over weekly you will know what is normal and then when it is unwell, you will know what is abnormal so you can explain this to the vet. A quicker diagnosis is best for everyone, especially your dog.
