Feeding Your Dog

What you feed your dog is entirely your choice, but with so many different commercial dog foods on the market, it can be confusing.

It is important that whichever food you choose it is appropriate for your dog’s age, size and activity level. You will see foods for puppies, junior, adults or senior dogs and foods for small or large breeds. When your dog first arrives find out what he has been fed on and continue with this while he settles in. If you are happy with this brand stay with it, if not and you want to change do so gradually, over say a week.

Puppies need to be fed little and often. Up to 2-3 months of age feed 4 times a day. Up to 6 months of age, feed 3 times a day. After that 1-2 times a day. Food stays in the stomach 9 hours so it is probably better to feed 2 smaller meals, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.
